In this article, we list everything for you, so you can get started with <strong>help at home<\/strong> quickly and without worries.   <\/p> <h2>What is household help with service vouchers?<\/h2> <p>The service voucher system was created by the government to make household work affordable and legal. As a user, you buy service vouchers, and one voucher pays for one hour of work by a household help. Your household help is not employed by you, but works for a certified service voucher company. That company takes care of the contract, wages, insurance and follow-up.   <\/p> <p>For you, this means no administrative hassle, no risk of undeclared work and the certainty that your cleaning help is paid correctly and insured. If your regular household help falls ill or goes on leave, the company can often arrange a replacement. <\/p> <h3>Which tasks can a cleaning help with service vouchers carry out?<\/h3> <p>Not everything is covered by the system. A <strong>cleaning help with service vouchers<\/strong> may only carry out household tasks, such as:  <\/p> <ul> <li>Cleaning the home: vacuuming, mopping, dusting, cleaning the bathroom and kitchen<\/li> <li>Washing windows (inside and outside, as long as they can be reached safely)<\/li> <li>Washing and ironing, at your home or in an ironing shop<\/li> <li>Minor sewing repairs as part of the ironing<\/li> <li>Preparing meals<\/li> <li>Doing the shopping for daily necessities<\/li> <li>Accompanied transport for people with reduced mobility (through specialised companies)<\/li> <\/ul> <h3>What is a household help not allowed to do?<\/h3> <p>Childcare, elderly care, gardening, odd jobs, moving house or cleaning professional premises such as an office or practice are not covered by the service voucher system. Work at great heights or with hazardous products is also excluded. Not sure whether a certain task is allowed? Check with your service voucher company in advance to avoid misunderstandings.   <\/p> <h2>How does the service voucher system work, step by step?<\/h2> <p>Getting started with help at home through service vouchers is easier than many people think. Broadly speaking, you go through these steps: <\/p> <h3>Step 1: Register as a user<\/h3> <p>You register with the service voucher issuer in your region. If you live in Flanders, you do this through Dienstencheques Vlaanderen. You can register online, by phone or through the service voucher company that helps you get started. After registering, you receive a user number.   <\/p> <h3>Step 2: Choose a certified service voucher company<\/h3> <p>Next, you look for a certified company in your area. That company will talk with you about your wishes: how many hours per week, which days, which tasks and anything in your home that needs special attention. Based on that, they look for a household help who is a good match for you.  <\/p> <h3>Step 3: Order your service vouchers<\/h3> <p>Service vouchers are now ordered entirely electronically. Paper vouchers can no longer be ordered since June 2025. You transfer the amount with the correct reference, after which the vouchers appear in your electronic account. The right number of vouchers is then automatically transferred to the service voucher company. In Flanders, a service voucher currently costs 10 or 11 euros, depending on the number of vouchers you buy per year. Each person can order a maximum of 500 service vouchers per year, and each household a maximum of 1,000. In certain cases, higher quotas apply to single parents and people with a disability.   <\/p> <h3>No more tax benefit in Flanders<\/h3> <p>In the past, you could deduct part of your service vouchers in your tax return. In Flanders, this tax benefit has been abolished for service vouchers purchased from 1 January 2025. So the price you pay is also your actual cost. At 10 euros per voucher, that comes to around 120 euros per month, plus any hourly contribution your service voucher company charges. <\/p> <h2>The benefits of household help through service vouchers<\/h2> <p>Why do so many Flemish families choose a cleaning help with service vouchers instead of hiring someone off the books?
