Removing glue residue from glass: a step-by-step guide
- Glass surface preparation
Before you get to work removing the glue residue from the glass, clean the glass thoroughly so that all the dust and dirt are gone. This is an important step, otherwise you may cause scratches.
- Soak the adhesive residue
Choose (warm water and) dish soap, cleaning vinegar or isopropyl alcohol and apply to a soft cloth or sponge to sufficiently moisten the adhesive residue.
- Remove adhesive residue from glass with a razor blade or glass scraper
Carefully scrape off the residue with a razor blade or glass scraper. Keep the razor blade at a 45-degree angle to avoid scratching.
- Wipe off excess dirt
Were you able to remove the glue residue from the glass? Super!!! You can now rinse the surface first with warm water and dishwashing liquid, and then use lukewarm water and a soft cloth to wipe the glass dry for a streak-free result.
Tip: Removing glue residue from glass is sometimes difficult. Does some glue residue remain? Then repeat the steps until the glass is clean again.
Tip: Test one of the remedies on a small area first. That way you’ll know right away if it works or if you should try something else.
