In three steps, clean your washing machine with vinegar:
Clean the inside of the door
Especially the rubber edge of your washing machine collects a lot of dirt. Sometimes you will also find treasures such as coins, hairpins, papers, … The dirt that collects there is easiest to remove with a firm wad of kitchen roll.
Clean the soap dish
The soap dish can usually be easily removed from the machine and cleaned with hot water and detergent. Also rub the spot where the receptacle has been sitting for a while. If you find that easier, you can also put the receptacle in the dishwasher.
Cleaning the washing machine with vinegar
Pour at least 200 ml of natural vinegar into the soap dish. Don’t use cleaning vinegar, as the rubbers don’t handle that well. Put the washing machine on the hottest setting (90 or 95 degrees) and run a short program. Afterwards, your machine will be squeaky clean again.
Other remedies to clean your washing machine
Don’t have vinegar in the house? There are other remedies that will bring your washing machine back to its shiny state. Soda, for example. Take half a cup of baking soda and sprinkle it in the drum. Again, set your washing machine on a short 90-degree program.
Dishwasher tablets are also great for cleaning the washing machine. Moreover, they help against grease lice. This is the greasy gunk that remains in your machine after washing (no itchy bugs, that is). Put two dishwasher tablets in the soap dish and, again, run a 95-degree wash. The dishwasher tablet will degrease your washing machine inside.
Always use one of these remedies and not all at once. Not even if your washing machine is very dirty. And don’t put clothes in the drum while cleaning.
