These are your main duties as a household help
A cleaning helper ensures that clients can come home to a neat, comfortable and safe home. Your duties are always housekeeping tasks, never care or physical support.
Polishing and cleaning
- Vacuum
- Mopping
- Cleaning of kitchen and bathroom
- Sanitary hygienic cleaning
- Dust wiping
- Interim maintenance
Cleaning windows inside
You clean easily accessible windows, using a stepladder with a maximum of three steps if necessary, as stipulated in the service voucher regulations.
Washing & ironing (optional)
Some clients request support for:
- Sorting laundry
- Hanging laundry
- Ironing (simple ironing). You choose whether to iron or not – it is not a required part of the job.
Light housework such as:
- Making beds
- Emptying the dustbin
- Small refreshments in living spaces
This is part of the normal maintenance of a home.
What don't you do as a cleaning helper?
A cleaning helper does no:
- nursing or caregiving duties
- heavy lifting or moving
- cooking tailored to diets or care plans
- babysitting or child care
- medical actions
- gardening
- cleaning vehicles
- cleaning professional spaces such as an office or practice
You work safely within the service check rules, so you and the client know what can and cannot be done.
What does a typical workday look like?
A work day as a cleaning helper is varied and independent. This is what you can expect:
You work at customers’ homes
You get a regular client list in your area.As a result, you never have to drive far.
You usually work in blocks of 3 or 4 hours
For example:
- 08:30-12:30 a.m.
- 1 p.m.-4 p.m.
You choose how many hours you want to work per week and what time you start.
You get a schedule that fits your life
