Remove brown deposits under toilet rim
Brown deposits under the toilet rim are often caused by a combination of scale and urinary stone. Scale can also form deeper inside the toilet, where toilet water remains. Lime scale is the most common type of plumbing scale. Urinary stone, on the other hand, occurs specifically in toilets and is caused by the waste products in urine.
The following tips can help remove brown deposits:
- Get to work with cleaning vinegar. Pour it on the spot where the scale occurs and let it soak in for several hours. Afterwards, rinse again with water.
- Apply baking soda to the tarnish and leave for several hours. You can also use baking soda in combination with vinegar.
- Try a mild urine scale remover or limescale remover to tackle brown deposits.
- Use probiotic cleaners such as Sani Clean and Oder prevention from Clean Green. These cleaners are harmless to humans, animals and the environment and contain good bacteria that remove stubborn dirt.
Be careful with bleach to avoid damage to your pipes.
Can you prevent urinary stone?
Preventing brown deposits is sometimes more difficult than expected because the problem can be very persistent. Of course, it is important to always flush your toilet sufficiently so that urine residue does not remain in the toilet. Brushing your toilet at least once a week can also help prevent brown deposits under the toilet rim.
