How to remove glue residue from glass
Removing glue residue from glass, it’s a task you might be putting off? Understandably so, as it can be a ‘fiddly job’. With our handy step-by-step plan, you can get straight to work to get rid of those annoying glue residues.
Removing glue residue from glass: a step-by-step guide
- Preparing the glass surface
Before you start working to remove glue residue from the glass, clean the glass thoroughly so that all dust and dirt are gone. This is an important step, otherwise you may cause scratches.
- Soak the glue residue
Choose (warm water and) washing-up liquid, cleaning vinegar or isopropyl alcohol and apply it to a soft cloth or sponge to soak the glue residue sufficiently.
- Remove glue residues from glass with a razor blade or glass scraper
Carefully scrape off the residue with a razor blade or glass scraper. Keep the razor blade at a 45-degree angle to avoid scratching.
- Wipe off excess dirt
Were you able to remove the glue residue from the glass? Super! You can now rinse the surface first with warm water and washing-up liquid, then use lukewarm water and a soft cloth to wipe the glass dry for a stripe-free result.
Tip! Removing glue residue from glass is sometimes difficult. Does some glue residue remain? Then repeat the steps until the glass is clean again.
Tip! Test one of the remedies on a small surface first. That way you will immediately know whether it works or you should try something else.
