Good material is half the battle
A garage owner can’t fix a car with bad tools either, so start cleaning with good, clean equipment. What do you need? Have a bucket, window squeegee, sponge, chamois sheet or microfiber cloth handy. Are you cleaning windows at height? Provide a sturdy ladder or steps.
Cleaning windows without streaks
It’s best to apply some of our tips to clean your windows without streaks.
- Use plenty of water to avoid scratching and provide lukewarm hot water.
- Add a dash of dish soap, but be sparing as too much can cause streaking.
- Use rainwater because it does not contain lime. In fact, lime is the main cause of streaks on your windows. If you add detergent to it, it polishes just as well as tap water.
- Do not wash your windows in the sun. This causes them to dry too quickly and streaks will appear anyway.
- Wipe your window frames thoroughly dry so that no streaks remain there either.
Tip: Use a probiotic cleaner. Thanks to good bacteria, these cleaners work more thoroughly than traditional cleaning products. They are also not harmful to your health and the environment. With this glass cleaner you can clean mirrors as well as windows.
