Vacuuming and brushing
The most obvious tip is to vacuum regularly. And we don’t just mean the floor, but also the sofa, chairs and carpet. Unfortunately, this does not remove all pet hair. During the autumn moult, dogs and cats lose their summer coat and it is replaced by an opaque winter coat. Therefore, remember to comb or brush your dog or cat regularly during the shedding period.
Sticking, rolling and sweeping
Don’t have a clothes roller or brush at home? Then use (double-sided) tape to remove hair from your furniture or clothing. Be careful that the tape does not damage fabrics.
Is your scouring pad no longer fully operational due to frequent use? Don’t throw it away, as the rougher side is ideal for removing pet hair.
In addition, rubber also works excellently as a “hair remover. You moisten a rubber glove or window squeegee and rub it against the hairs so that they stick to the rubber. You can easily dispose of the hairs by using a cloth or rinsing the hairs away.
Removing animal hair with static electricity
Do you have children in your home in addition to pets? Then there is probably a balloon somewhere. By holding an inflated balloon against your clothing, loose hair will fly to the balloon. In our opinion, this is the best way to quickly make your clothes hair-free!
You can also remove animal hair by placing a pair of tights in your dryer. After 15 minutes of running, all the hairs will be pulled away from your clothes by the static electricity of the tights.
Golden tip! Put a splash of white vinegar in the fabric softener compartment of your washing machine. White vinegar has a double effect: it reduces the static adhesion of hair AND it neutralizes odors from your cat or dog.
