Preparation is the key to success
Washing symbols can be found on the inside of each garment on the label, where you will also find the information about the type of fabric. Before you can put your clothes in the washing machine, good preparation is half the battle. Sort your clothes by color and/or fabric type. So be sure to check that that one red sock didn’t get lost among your white clothes.
What do the wax symbols mean?
- Washing: these symbols indicate how a garment may be washed and also at what temperature. Pay particular attention to the lines under the washing drum that indicate which program you may wash a garment on.
- Drying: the use of a dryer is indicated by a square and a circle. Depending on the number of balls, you can deduce at what temperature you may dry it. Normal tumble drying or air drying, you can deduce from the lines.
- Ironing: also in ironing, the temperature is indicated by dots. The more dots, the higher the recommended temperature.
- Bleaching: do you see a triangle? That indicates whether or not a garment can be bleached.
- Steaming: the laundry symbols for steaming can be recognized by the circle containing a letter and/or a line below the circle.
Extend the life of your clothes
If you follow the washing symbols carefully you are already well on your way. It is also important not to over-wash your clothes and avoid excess detergent. Do you need to wash delicate items? If so, use a laundry bag. Do you have stains on your clothes? If so, treat them as soon as possible. In short, treat your clothes with love and enjoy them all the more.
