Where does all this filth come from?
Dust seems inexhaustible and unfortunately it is … Dust consists of small particles of material that float around and then end up on a surface. They can be dander, hair, pieces of textile, particles of natural material, etc. When too much dust accumulates in a room, health risks can occur. For example, there is an increasing risk of allergies such as dust mites.
How can I avoid a lot of dust in the house?
You can hardly avoid dust, but you can make sure it has as little chance as possible to accumulate. That way, it’s best to keep outside dust out effectively as well. Placing a mat at the door can help keep out dirt from outside. A tidy home will get you a long way. The more furniture or things lying around in the house, the more dust collectors you will have. Dust can then easily accumulate around things. In addition, it is helpful if you give bedding, carpets and curtains a good shake on a regular basis. In warmer weather, it is best to dry your laundry outside.
What we often forget is to clean grilles and ventilation ducts such as the grille of the cooker hood, air conditioner or heater. These appliances catch a lot of dust and can also spread it around. So regular cleaning is the way to go.
So how can I remove dust?
Is there still too much dust in the house? Then it helps to vacuum thoroughly first to get rid of most of the dust. Throw away that feather duster, as it only moves the dust but does not remove it. After vacuuming, you can use a wet cloth or microfiber cloth to wipe off the dust. Lo and behold, you’re done!
